This whole series is based on Angela Carter’s The Magic Toyshop. I used saturated colors to create an absurd, dreamy, fairytale thriller environment. The collage texts both echo the overall theme and explain each individual better.
Plus, to emphasize the main character Melanie, I covered other characters with designed masks. “The uncle”, the villain and the representation of supreme patriarchy in this story, has an octopus mask. While “the aunt” and “the brothers of the aunt” have foxes masks to reflect their red hair.
